NY de Volunteer designs its programs based
on the concept of Experience + Education + Exchange
Explore Japanese Culture After
School Program
The Explore Japanese Culture (EJC) provides children in New York
City opportunities to cultivate their sense of global citizenship through
exploration of different cultures and value systems. NYdV broadens the
interests of children by introducing Japanese culture through fun and
creative activities.
We have partnered with New york City Parks and Recreation Department to
provide the EJC to hundreds of children in all five boroughs.
Japanese Spa Day
NY
de Volunteer organizes the innovative beauty volunteering program, Japanese
Spa Day to enrich the lives of senior citizens in New York. In this
program, volunteers from the local Japanese expatriate community visit
senior citizens in nursing homes, hospitals and retirement communities
to pamper and uplift them by providing cosmetic treatments.
Japanese Spa Day also program facilitates cross-cultural sharing
between Japanese and American. In the Japanese tradition of honoring senior
members of communities, dedicated volunteers serve senior citizens to
spread goodwill, improved intercultural relations, and create a dialog
based on mutual understanding and tolerance.
This program is made possible by the generous support of the Japanese
Medical Society of America, Shiseido
USA, and cosmetic companies. This
program was featured on NY1 "New Yorker of the week."
